Arumjigi <Shade from the Sun> Exhibition>
If blocking rain and making shadow is the minimum purpose of architecture, Modern Architecture has developed in various ways for this by enhancing the method of constructing column, wall, window, covering roof and decorating each element. This temporary space which is dealing with light contains our sense of beauty and cultural characteristic in the most elemental style.
Exhibition <Shade from the Sun> by Arumjigi starts from the inquiry about intrinsic actions making space where people can stay, enjoy and take a rest. We tried to include the sense of beauty and cultural peculiarities through the work dealing with light which can say that is the basic purpose of architecture in the terms of traditional architecture and modern architecture.
SoA’s ‘Temporary Roof’ is considered as a device that can control light and shade under the roof. Installing pavilion only the element of roof is remained but make it can be also flexible by the simple action of pulling and releasing of people who is staying under the roof. Panels forming temporary roof are connected each other at the vertex. Because of this, roof is transformed by interconnection of panels when more than two persons participate in this action. By this, we wanted to overlap another experience of sense on the action of avoiding light under the roof.
아름지기 <해를 가리다>전
비를 막고 그늘을 만드는 것이 건축의 최소한의 목적이라고 한다면, 다양한 전통, 현대 건축은 이를 위해 기둥을 세우고, 벽을 치고, 창을 내고, 지붕을 덮고, 또 각각의 요소를 장식하는 방식을 고도화하면서 다양하게 발전해왔다고 볼 수 있다. 빛을 다루는 최소한의 가설 공간은 가장 원초적인 방식으로 우리의 미감과 문화적 특징을 담아낸다고 볼 수 있을 것이다.
아름지기 기획전시 <해를 가리다>는 사람이 머물고, 즐기고, 휴식을 취하는 공간을 만드는 본질적 행위에 대한 탐구에서 출발한다. 전시는 전통건축 및 현대건축의 언어로, 가장 원초적인 건축의 목적이라할 수 있는 빛을 다루는 작업을 통해 우리의 미감과 문화적 특징을 담아내고자 하였다.
SoA의 ‘가지붕’은 지붕 아래에서 빛과 그늘을 조작해볼 수 있는 장치로 고안되었다. 지붕의 요소만 남은 파빌리온을 설치하되, 지붕 아래 머무는 사람이 당기고 놓는 단순한 동작으로 지붕의 틈을 변형시킬 수 있도록 하였다. 가지붕을 구성하는 패널은 꼭지점에서 서로 연결되어있고, 이 때문에 두사람 이상이 함께 동작에 참여할 때 상호 연관되어 지붕의 형태 변화가 일어난다. 이를 통해서 지붕아래 빛을 피하는 행위에 또 다른 감각의 경험을 포개고자 한다.
