'Body' and 'Architecture', Dancer and Architecture met
What visitors experience at the theater? Find tickets at counter, wait in the lobby and watching a performance having a seat. Even each different performance has different contents, visitor's act and circulation is all same. Dance, Spread the theater is an unique experience freed from the typical formula of watching behavior of performance. Audiences start watching the performance from a rehearsal room of LG Art Center. After then, they meet new acting and theme at unexpected place while walking inside various place of theater. Performances located outside our stage and auditorium that it shouldn't be at gives new view point of watching attitude beyond existing and chance of deviation.
Theater is a place that uncountable bodies are created and disappeared. Not only performer but also audience are thrilled and their eyes are shining with curious at the curtain rose. Theater is full of spectacles and makes people dream natural dreams. Because artists are existing with assistance of theater, theater is a thankful and fearful place at the same time for us. Many people might have been watched other's dream and appeased their desire by inserting their dreams between through the theater, LG Art Center. Dance, Spread the theater by DooDance Theater tries to find several meanings that space of theater has by the meeting of hided place of LG Art Center and dance. Also, through the collaboration with SOA, wanted architects to find various meanings of theater space and know how these designing process can be developed into an idea of dancing.
‘몸’과 ‘건축’, 무용가와 건축가가 만났다
관객들은 극장에 와서 어떤 경험을 하는가? 창구에서 티켓을 찾고, 로비에서 대기한 후, 객석에 착석하여 무대를 관람하는 것. 공연의 내용이 모두 다름에도 관객들의 행위와 동선은 항상 동일하다. «춤, 극장을 펼치다»는 이러한 전형적인 공연 관람의 형식에서 벗어나는 흥미로운 모험이다. 관객들은 LG아트센터의 리허설룸에 모여 관람을 시작하게 되며, 이후 극장 곳곳을 걸어 다니며 전혀 예측할 수 없는 장소에서 새로운 움직임과 테마를 만나게 된다. 무대와 객석을 벗어난 ‘있지 말아야 할 곳’에 배치된 공연들은 기존의 익숙했던 관람 경험에 대한 새로운 관점과 일탈의 기회를 제공한다.
극장은 수많은 몸들이 태어났다가 사라지는 곳이다. 극장에 무언가를 보러가는 사람이나 극장에서 무언가를 보여주려는 사람이나 막이 올라가는 순간, 모두의 가슴은 콩닥거리기 시작하고 눈은 호기심으로 반짝댄다. 볼 것들이 넘쳐나는 지금도 여전히 극장은 사람들에게 원초적 꿈을 꾸게 하는 공간이다. 우리들에게 극장이라는 공간은 그야말로 고맙고도 두려운 곳이다. 왜냐하면 우리 공연예술가들은 극장을 빌어 존재하기 때문이다. 많은 사람들이 그동안 LG아트센터라는 극장공간을 통해 남의 꿈을 엿보고 또 거기에 자신의 꿈을 살짝 끼워 넣어 욕망을 달래왔을 것이다. «춤, 극장을 펼치다» 두댄스 씨어터의 이번 작업은 LG아트센터가 감춰왔던 공간과 춤의 만남을 통해 극장이라는 공간이 가지고 있는 여러 의미들을 찾아가 보고자 한다. 또한 SoA와의 협업을 통해 건축가들이 극장 공간의 여러 의미들을 찾아내는 것은 물론, 공간에 대한 접근방식과 분석, 디자인하는 과정을 엿보고 그것들을 어떻게 안무의 영감으로 발전시킬수 있을 것인지 찾아가 보고 싶었다.
